Get Ready, Get Set, Build Your Portfolio

Published by catrina at 3:29 pm under The Basics Edit This

Writers and aspiring writers need to develop a portfolio when they are applying for jobs. Two easy ways to develop your own portfolio and have it easily accessible online, and get paid for it.

Step 1: Identify what you would enjoy writing about. Create a short list of 5 or 10  topics you are both knowledgeable about and would like to learn more about. Then create and edit at least 5 articles of any length. Include any applicable references with every article. You can link them or reference them directly in the body of the article, or list them in detail after your conclusion.

Step 2: Decide if you want to be paid through a blog such as this one, or if you want to post to other sites that will also pay you. These article submission sites welcome quality writers and share the revenue earned with them on a monthly basis. The sites I personally use most often are Bukisa and Triond .  Once you have uploaded content to their sites, they will give you a profile link in which you are able to circulate as your primary sample choice.

Should you select a  blog format such as today.com , you will have slightly more restrictive requirements, as you will have to select a theme and stick to it. This is an effective manner of promoting yourself as an expert in the field of choice. The url to your blog can act as your samples online, but you will be fairly limited in what you apply for. Both are fantastic options for getting your talent seen by online companies.

Step 3: Beginning to publish your work is as easy as following the directions given on your selected sites.
